Is it double what the market rate is from outside contractors? I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of doing upgrades with the builder's preferred contractor vs waiting until the home is built with the standard carpet and hiring a third party to come in and rip everything out and then build again. Besides overpaying, I didn't even think about the tax issue as well and wondering if ithat It seems like such a waste to have people put carpet in just to rip it out but at the same time I heard it's relatively easy to do and can save you a lot of money. The only pro I can think of with using their preferred builder is that it's convenient and you get it put into the home while it's being built so you can have the upgraded home from the very get go. Are there any other pros? Or any other cons I didn't think of?
